    Forum discusses opportunities to establish a full-service logistics area in the Eastern Province​


    Officials and specialists participating in the Logistics Forum 2021, next Sunday, November 7, 2021, will review the most prominent achievements of the logistic sector, and the important developments in the sector in line with the Kingdom's vision 2030.
    The participants will be presented within the working papers that they will present at the forum held by the Asharqia Chamber within the activities of the Logistics Committee under the auspices of the Deputy Governor of the Eastern Region, His Royal Highness Prince Ahmed bin Fahd bin Salman Al Saud, and activities will start at 8:30 am.
    Several issues related to the logistic sector, most notably the idea of establishing a full-service logistics zone in the eastern region, based on the importance of the region and the relative advantages that characterize it, being the starting point for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries via land and sea, as well as from which exports, energy, and goods to all countries of the world, Which is the focal point of the global economy.
    The forum will discuss through experts three main axes that will be the main titles of the sessions of the first forum revolving around the logistic areas, the second talking about the mechanism of enhancing the comparative advantages of the region, and the third reviewing the role of the private and public sectors in the development of the logistical activity.
    The head of the Logistics Committee of the Asharqia Chamber, Rakan bin Abdulrahman Al-Otaishan, affirmed the Kingdom’s endeavor to move forward in developing this vital sector, and this has become clear and evident through the launch of the national transport strategy, pointing out that the eastern region is characterized by a number of comparative advantages represented in being the starting point for countries The Gulf Cooperation Council across land and sea, and being the capital of Gulf industries, as well as hosting a number of primary and secondary petrochemical industry complexes, a number of industrial cities in Dammam, Jubail, Abqaiq, Khafji and Ras al-Khair, and some ports and airports, in addition to an active movement in trade, services, import and export, the matter Which gave it an opportunity to occupy a prominent position within the projects of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and it is now qualified, before ever, to be a logistics area with sea, land and air views of the movement of the global economy.​
    ​Al-Otaishan explained that the Asharqia Chamber meets with many ministries and relevant authorities to keep pace with efforts to develop the logistic sector and provide the necessary and required activities and information to help in the process of development and continuous improvement of all services in the logistic sector, indicating that the work program in the forum is full of elite participants who will review the initiatives it offers. The Kingdom in this field and the great investment opportunities in which the private sector will participate to perform the roles entrusted to it following the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
    Al-Otaishan called on specialists and those interested to participate in the forum and benefit from the participants' proposals and enrich its activities with valuable contributions, pointing out that it is a valuable opportunity to obtain information that the business sector will benefit from in building its plans.​
